This is a telephoto shot of the Georgetown Loop Railroad’s steam locomotive No. 9 being fixed or acquiring maintenance done or something.

The postcard I acquired suggests “West Facet Lumber Locomotive #9″ rolls out of the Engine Home. … This is a a few truck Shay built in 1923 by Lima Locomotive Operates, Lima, Ohio.”

From Wikipedia: “The Georgetown Loop Railroad was 1 of Colorado’s first visitor attractions. This magnificent stretch of three ft (914 mm) slim gauge railroad was finished in 1884 and regarded as an engineering marvel for its time. The flourishing mining cities of Georgetown and Silver Plume lie two miles (three.two km) apart in the steep, slim canyon of Obvious Creek in the Rocky Mountains west of Denver. Engineers designed a corkscrew route that traveled almost twice that distance to join them, slowly gaining much more than 600 ft (183 m) in elevation. The route provided horseshoe curves, grades of up to 4%, and 4 bridges throughout Obvious Creek, which includes the large Devil’s Gate High Bridge.

The Georgetown, Breckenridge, and Leadville Railroad experienced been shaped in 1881 below the Union Pacific Railroad. The Loop portion of the line was the crowning phase of the line, crossing the top rated of the gorge on a 95-foot (29 m) high trestle.

Originally aspect of the greater line of the Colorado Central Railroad made in the 1870s and eighties, in the wake of the Colorado Gold Rush, this line was also employed thoroughly during the silver growth of the eighties to haul silver ore from the mines at Silver Plume. In 1893, the Colorado and Southern Railway took in excess of the line and operated it for passengers and freight until 1938. The line was afterwards dismantled, but was restored in the nineteen eighties to work during summer months months as a tourist railroad, carrying passengers working with historic three ft (914 mm) slim gauge steam locomotives.”
