Ferrari 458 Italia Grand Am has been given its track baptism at the Fiorano circuit. The car has been developed in conjunction with Michelotto Automobili, based on the GT3 version of the V8 Ferrari berlinetta, with the aim of racing in the famous North American series.
The 458 Grand Am is built to match the American regulations and is therefore different to the European car, especially in that it develops 500 horsepower and has less efficient aerodynamics than the GT version. It is also fitted with a 48 mm restrictor and maximum revs are 8000. Significant modifications have been made to the braking system, as the car has neither ABS nor traction control.
Other differences to the GT3 include the roll-over bar which gives greater lateral protection to increase safety in a series in which collisions are rather more frequent. The car is fitted with tyres from Continental, the sole supplier to the series, featuring a very hard compound, again to conform to the series regulations.
On its shakedown, The 458 Italian Grand Am completed a good number of trouble-free laps, 45 to be precise in the hands of Maurizio Mediani and Jaime Melo, as they took turns at the wheel.

Mercedes Motor Corp revealed its new redesigned 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK350 roadster model at 2011 New York Motor Show with more power along with revised sheetmetal body. 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK350 receives a new 302 horsepower direct-injection 3.5-liter V6 engine and 273 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. It can pass 0-60 mph in just about 5.5 seconds. In addition, mercedes will launch a less-powerful SLK250 model at this june. The 2012 SLK250 will be powered by a new turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder that produces 201 hp and 229 lb-ft. Initially offering will be only with a seven-speed automatic.

Nissan just introduced its new race car concept car that is Leaf Nismo RC (Racing Competition) at New York Auto Show. Its special weighs just 2,068 pounds – around 40 percent lighter Nissan Leaf added by Nissan. The Nismo RC starting line packing 107 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque, and its lithium-ion pack can reach an 80 percent charge state in just 30 minutes. Still, if the Leaf is ever to be raced, we're thinking that some sort of swappable battery solution will have to be developed; otherwise pit stops are going to be rather leisurely.

The Soleil Anadi, a luxury Corvette, makes its world premiere today at the 2011 Top Marques car show in Monaco. The Soeil Anadi is based on the Corvette ZR-1, which is designed by Ugur Sahin Design based in the Netherlands.
The Anadi features a detachable roof and new sheetmetal to make it looks like an Italian supercar. As for the interior, it has also been fully customized to coach standard as well.

Porsche makes some amazingly capable and exciting machines. The German speedmeisters at Ruf are fans of those cars, but they like to take them, lock them in their insane asylum factory and release them back into the world as roadgoing rocketships. The company's latest creation, unveiled on the 2011 Geneva Motor Show floor, is the Ruf Rt 12 R.
Based on the (quite pedestrian by comparison) Porsche 911 Turbo, the Ruf Rt 12 R begins life with the stock 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine. That unit is good for 500 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque (516 lb-ft with the overboost function). After Ruf gets its mitts on the powerplant, output swells to 730 hp and 693 lb-ft of torque. 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Race Car wallpaper
Cadillac announced it will return to racing in 2011 with a race-prepared version of its CTS-V Coupe competing in the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge, North America’s top production-based racecar series.
The move returns Cadillac to a series where it competed from 2004 to 2007.Competing in the GT Class with the CTS-V Sport Sedan, Cadillac captured the Manufacturer’s Championship in 2005 and 2007 and the Driver’s Championship in 2005.
Cadillac will field two teams in the upcoming SCCA World Challenge GT Class with a racecar based on the CTS-V Coupe.The CTS-V line, which also includes the CTS-V Sedan and CTS-V Wagon, was recently named to Car and Driver magazine’s 10 Best list for 2011.
