Ferrari 458 Italia Grand Am has been given its track baptism at the Fiorano circuit. The car has been developed in conjunction with Michelotto Automobili, based on the GT3 version of the V8 Ferrari berlinetta, with the aim of racing in the famous North American series.

The 458 Grand Am is built to match the American regulations and is therefore different to the European car, especially in that it develops 500 horsepower and has less efficient aerodynamics than the GT version. It is also fitted with a 48 mm restrictor and maximum revs are 8000. Significant modifications have been made to the braking system, as the car has neither ABS nor traction control.

Other differences to the GT3 include the roll-over bar which gives greater lateral protection to increase safety in a series in which collisions are rather more frequent. The car is fitted with tyres from Continental, the sole supplier to the series, featuring a very hard compound, again to conform to the series regulations.
On its shakedown, The 458 Italian Grand Am completed a good number of trouble-free laps, 45 to be precise in the hands of Maurizio Mediani and Jaime Melo, as they took turns at the wheel.

Nissan just introduced its new race car concept car that is Leaf Nismo RC (Racing Competition) at New York Auto Show.
Its special weighs just 2,068 pounds – around 40 percent lighter Nissan Leaf added by Nissan.
The Nismo RC starting line packing 107 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque, and its lithium-ion pack can reach an 80 percent charge state in just 30 minutes.
Still, if the Leaf is ever to be raced, we're thinking that some sort of swappable battery solution will have to be developed; otherwise pit stops are going to be rather leisurely.

Aston Martin is only going to produce 77 units of the One-77 and Aston Martin has reportedly already sold 60 of the limited edition supercars. With a price tag of $1.87 million, the Aston Martin is not having a hard time finding buyers for the 750-hp coupe.

What's interesting is that most buyers are also opting for the Toyota IQ-based Aston Martin Cygnet, in the same color as their One-77. Aston Martin claims that most One-77 owners have already committed to buying the Cygnet or have shown serious interest in the small car. When you're already paying almost $2 million for the One-77, why not just get everything...Aston Martin One-77 Photo
