Ferrari 458 Italia Grand Am has been given its track baptism at the Fiorano circuit. The car has been developed in conjunction with Michelotto Automobili, based on the GT3 version of the V8 Ferrari berlinetta, with the aim of racing in the famous North American series.

The 458 Grand Am is built to match the American regulations and is therefore different to the European car, especially in that it develops 500 horsepower and has less efficient aerodynamics than the GT version. It is also fitted with a 48 mm restrictor and maximum revs are 8000. Significant modifications have been made to the braking system, as the car has neither ABS nor traction control.

Other differences to the GT3 include the roll-over bar which gives greater lateral protection to increase safety in a series in which collisions are rather more frequent. The car is fitted with tyres from Continental, the sole supplier to the series, featuring a very hard compound, again to conform to the series regulations.
On its shakedown, The 458 Italian Grand Am completed a good number of trouble-free laps, 45 to be precise in the hands of Maurizio Mediani and Jaime Melo, as they took turns at the wheel.

If you think 1,000 horsepower from the Bugatti Veyron is a bit too much, then wait till you see the “Lamborghini” Indomable Concept with 2,000 horsepower, which will head to production as the Mostro Di-Potenza SF22 by 215 Racing company. The Lamborghini Indomable Concept was designed by Daniel Chinchilla Ochoa and Alberto Fernandez Albilares, who were sponsored by Lamborghini during the design process, but the supercar ended up looking so good (we agreed) that a company called 215 Racing bought the rights of the Indomable Design, and it is going to turn the concept design into a reality.

215 Racing company is based in Abington, Pennsylvania U.S.A, is this really meaned that the U.S. finally gets its own exotic supercar? It is likely so if 215 Racing company proceeds with the build. According to 215 Racing, the SF22 will be powered by a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 9.4-liter V8 engine producing a dramatic 2,000 horsepower and 2,000 pound-feet of torque. The engine is based on a General Motors 475, and it is mated with a six-speed sequential gearbox. This will be the first twin-turbocharged V8 engine we have evThe Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione may not be the best handling sports car, but what it lacked in handling, it made up in the appearance with its sexy look. With that, Novitec Rosso only made modifications to the powertrain department. Novitec Rosso introduces its new performance package to the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider to boost power from the 4.7-liter V8 engine to 600 horsepower and 346 lb-feet of torque, and that is about 150 hp and 88 lb-ft of torque gain over the stock engine. The performance package includes a supercharger, a water-to-air intercooler, new mapped injectors, a stainless-steel exhaust system and an ECU optimization. The Germany tuning firm claims that the modified Alfa Romeo 8C Spider now can sprint from 0-62 mph in just 3.9 seconds (4.2 seconds in stock engine), while top speed reaches 190 mph.

Nissan just introduced its new race car concept car that is Leaf Nismo RC (Racing Competition) at New York Auto Show. Its special weighs just 2,068 pounds – around 40 percent lighter Nissan Leaf added by Nissan. The Nismo RC starting line packing 107 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque, and its lithium-ion pack can reach an 80 percent charge state in just 30 minutes. Still, if the Leaf is ever to be raced, we're thinking that some sort of swappable battery solution will have to be developed; otherwise pit stops are going to be rather leisurely.
