Fisker Karma is the first car manufactured by Fisker Automotive, and it a a four-door hybrid luxury coupe sports car, we had a article about Fisker Karma, but only a little, now we get more information and pictures.
Fisker Karma accentuates the long hood, is a direct result of the breakthrough all-new from the ground up chassis design with powertrain development. This unique design places the battery pack at the center of the vehicle between the two axles, providing optimal vehicle driving dynamics, maximum safety, and proportionate design.
The cabin of Karma is installed with a solar paneled roof to provide charging facility of its Lithium-Ion batteries and cabin climate control system too. With the help of solar roof it is possible to generate a half kilowatt-hour per day. And, this electric power is capable of powering up the vehicle up to 4 to 5 miles. In addition to that, the car is provided with setoff two solar panels for housing/garage.
The Fisker Karma’s luxurious interior boasts four individual first class seats, a modern and sophisticated interior design and a spacious luggage capacity that can fit two golf bags and luggage in the trunk. Include Navigation system, DVD system incorporated into seat backs and state-of-the art push button controls. The first mode is the quiet economy mode for optimal relaxed and efficient driving.
The 2011 Fisker Karma will be equiped with a 22-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack to power a pair of motors driving the rear wheels. The sport mode allows the gas engine and electric motors to operate at the same time, increasing performance. Specific horsepower figures have not been disclosed. It will have roughly 50 miles of all-electric range, after which a 2.0-liter direct-injected EcoTech four gasoline engine, sourced from General Motors, will kick in to power a generator that provides electric power to the motors for another 200 or more miles. Fisker claims can hit 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, and the top speed of 125 mph.
The production model will begin deliveries to customers in the 4th quarter of 2009 with annual production projected to reach 15,000 cars. The price is about $95,900. The Fisker has already started to equip a factory in Delaware to produce its next model, likely in 2012 or 2013, a line of four-door and crossovers currently known as Project Nina.
